In many countries across the world, netball is thriving thanks to the vision and dedication of small groups of people, determined to grow the sport in their area and improve their performance.
Netball Association of Maldives shared their aspirational vision for the future at the AGM of their country’s Olympic Committee. Loona Moosa, coordinator of the Netball Association of Maldives Youth Development Programme, gave an engaging presentation on Vision 2022 – the aspiration for Maldives to qualify for the netball competition at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Pakistan Netball Federation and Pakistan Sports Board jointly organised a National Netball Coaching and Umpiring course recently. 60 dedicated individuals took part with the aim of improving their skills to lead the growth of netball in Pakistan.
There was no rest for Northern Ireland netballers over the Easter break, as they took to the streets of Belfast to introduce netball to a wider audience. The netballers were working with the Mary Peters Trust, which helps aspiring young athletes.
Luciana Matenga-Nicholas has been well-known to the Cook Islands netball community for some time. She has over 50 caps for her country, and is now dedicated to umpiring on the international stage. Luciana has just been announced as the Sports Technical Official at the 2016 Cook Islands National Sports Awards, and is pictured with team-mate Natalia Short.
