NWYC2025GIB – The Qualification Process

By now, we all know that the Netball World Youth Cup 2025 (NWYC2025) will be taking place in Gibraltar, the dates and venues have been announced and the branding launched, but who should we expect to see competing?

20 teams will compete in the event, taking place from the 19th – 28th September and here is how they are determined…

Pre-Qualified Teams

There are five pre-qualified teams for the event these are New Zealand, Australia, England, Fiji, and Gibraltar.

New Zealand, Australia, England, and Fiji are all invited to compete at the NWYC2025 because of their top four finish at the NWYC2017.

This was the last NWYC due to the NWYC2021 in Fiji, being cancelled because of Covid.

The final pre-qualified team is Gibraltar, who pre-qualify as the hosts of the event in 2025.

Regional Qualifiers

That leaves us with 15 more spots at the NWYC2025.

World Netball has five Regional Federations: Africa, Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania.

Each Regional Federation will host a NWYC2025 Qualifier event, with the top three from each Region then invited by World Netball to compete at the NWYC2025.

Africa and Asia have already held their qualifiers with South Africa, Malawi and Zambia qualifying from Africa, and Malaysia, Singapore and Sri Lanka qualifying from Asia.

Americas, Europe, and Oceania will all host their qualifiers before the end of 2024, with dates still to be confirmed.
