Round 8 included some big victories in the UK’s Netball Super League, with the international Netball Family able to watch Manchester Thunder storm past Saracens Mavericks, and London Pulse overcome Strathclyde Sirens live on NetballPass.
The weekend started with Siren’s travelling to London to take on Pulse, with the Scottish side still in search of their first win of the season.
As expected, it was 4th place Pulse that started the strongest, but it was clear in the second quarter Siren’s weren’t just about to roll over as they began to fightback adding 11 goals to their tally and loosing that quarter by just two.
Pulse put on masterclasses at either end of the court to ensure they took a strong win, with England Rose shooters, Berri Neil and Olivia Tchine both shooting at over 90%, whilst in defence another Roses duo of Funmi Fadoju and Halimat Adio were a force to be reckoned with making 20 deflections and six gains between them.
Pulse’s dominant performance saw them eventually take the win 66-45.

Next up, the international Netball Family were treated to Thunder vs Mavericks, which was played in-front of a sell-out crowd at the OVO Wembley Arena.
A win for Thunder would put them back at the top of the table, after they were knocked off the day before by Loughborough Lightning following their victory over Cardiff Dragons.
It was clear from the off Thunder did not want to miss out on that opportunity as they stormed past Mavericks in the opening 30 minutes to ensure they had a comfortable 13-goal lead at half-time.
The Manchester sides South African shooter, Elmerè van der Berg, was clinical under the post as she put up 38 of Thunder’s eventual 70 goals, and at the other end of the court it was another SPAR Protea that stood out for Thunder, this time in Shadine van der Merwe as she made three gains and two interceptions for the visitors.
Thunders through court dominance meant Maverick’s final 15 minute comeback just wasn’t enough, and Thunder took the win 46-70 climbing back into the top spot.

Elsewhere in the NSL, high flighers Lightning beat Cardiff Dragons 69-41, Malawi Queen Joyce Mvula was unstoppable as Leeds Rhino’s beat Team Bath, and Severn Stars climbed back into 3rd place with a victory over Surrey Storm.
