Severn Stars return to winning ways in Round 7 of the NSL as Loughborough Lightning continue to shine.

Round 7 of the Netball Super League (NSL) took place this weekend with the international Netball Family able to watch Loughborough Lightning strike down Sirens, and London Pulse push past Celtic Dragons.

The first match up on NetballPass saw the on-form reigning champions Lightning take on bottom of the table struggling Strathclyde Sirens.

As expected, it was Lightning that came out firing scoring 22 goals in the opening 15-minutes compared to Sirens 9.

One stand-out player was England Rose Alice Harvey who was unstoppable in defence for Lightning as she made four interceptions, 10 deflections, and 10 gains in the contest, helping her side to eventually win 72-36.

The second clash of the weekend that was live for all to see was Pulse vs Dragons and this was a much closer encounter.

Pulse did not miss a beat in the first half, with another England Rose defender, this time Halimat Adio stealing the show (and the ball), Adio made four interceptions, five deflections and nine gains, as her side went into half-time leading 29-13.

However, in the second half Dragons came out firing with Australia’s Jacqui Newton making an instant impact with her turnover at the start of the third quarter.

Dragons went on to win the final two quarters by one, 12-11 and 13-12, but it wasn’t enough to catch Pulse, who won 52-37.

Elsewhere in the NSL this weekend Leeds Rhinos secured their second win of the season as they narrowly beat Surrey Storm, Severn Stars returned to winning ways as they made a late comeback against Saracen’s Mavericks, and Thunder remained top of the table as they dominated Team Bath.
