World Netball Recognises Seven with Service Awards, including Former Vice President Sue Taylor AM

Former World Netball Vice President Sue Taylor AM today received a World Netball (WN) Service Award at the international federation’s Congress.

WN Service Awards are awarded to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the development of netball internationally.

Taylor was World Netball’s Vice President from 2011, until 2021, when she reached the maximum term allowable on the Board Prior to being World Netball’s Vice President, Taylor rose through the officiating ranks, and she completed four years on the Board as an Independent Director.

Taylor’s citation was read out at Congress by President Dame Liz Nicholl DBE, she said: “Sue’s influence and impact to netball has been felt on all levels from community to the elite.

“Her ability to form and develop relationships, be super organised, and work autonomously as well as have an entrepreneurial flare, she has guided many people and organisations to success that has left a lasting legacy.

“Sue has been instrumental to the development of the many levels of sports and has helped make World Netball what it is today.”

Annette Beckett STE and Octavia Gibson from Barbados, Leigh Gibbs and Todd Miller from New Zealand, and Joan Mills and Gordon Padley from England were also honoured with the prestigious award.

The second day of the World Netball Congress will begin tomorrow, Thursday 27th July, with Members set to hear from event hosts, and  keynote speakers Minister Kirsty Coventry OLY, Caroline Barker, Journalist and Presenter, Stacey Francis-Bayman, former England Rose and Commonwealth Champion and Vanes-Mari du Toit, SuperSport Ambassador, who will debate the topic of “The Unstoppable Rise of Women’s, Sport Opportunities and Risks: What does this mean for our growth ambitions?”.
