Dr Laura Lallenec Joins World Netball Medical Advisory Panel (MAP)

World Netball has today announced Dr Laura Lallenec has joined the World Netball Medical Advisory Panel (MAP).

The Panel is chaired by Prof. Christa Janse van Rensburg and is responsible for advising the World Netball CEO and Board on medical and health and wellbeing issues and works closely with them to support the development and implementation of agreed priorities in the Strategic Plan.

Dr Lallenec, is a Sport and Exercise Physician working in Australia with elite sporting teams, such as the Australian Diamonds, where she is the team doctor.

The newest MAP Member is also the Chief Medical Officer for World Netball Member, Netball Australia, and the Medical Advisor for Sport Integrity Australia, where she advices on anti-doping matters.

Speaking on joining World Netball’s MAP, Dr Lallenec said: “I am delighted and feel very privileged to join the World Netball Medical Advisory Panel.

“I am passionate about both netball and sports medicine and hope to contribute meaningfully to policy development particularly in the areas of concussion, anti-doping and mental health.”

 

Dr Lallenec joins  Prof. Christa Janse van Rensburg, who was appointed Chair in June, and members Sharon Kearney (re-appointed in July for a second term of 4 years) and Janet Young (appointed in November 2022).

Speaking on the changes to the MAP World Netball CEO Clare Briegal said: “We are thrilled to welcome Dr Lallenec to the World Netball Medical Advisory Panel.

“From her wide range of industry experience, especially working with the World Netball World Ranked Number one team Australia as the Diamonds team doctor and Netball Australia’s Chief Medical Officer, as well as her experience with Australian Rules football, we know she will bring invaluable knowledge and expertise to the group, and we look forward to working with her.”
