Looking ahead to the October International Netball Tests Series and Qualfiers’…

October promises to be an exciting one for World Netball, with two Netball World Cup Qualifiers taking place (Europe and Americas), as well as international test series’ in every corner of the world!

Here are just some of the events you have got to look forward to:

Wales vs Uganda

When: 1st – 2nd October
Where: House of Sport, Clos Parc Morgannwg, Cardiff, Wales.

The Wales International Senior Team has just announced their new identity as the Welsh Feathers, and will now be playing in their first series as the Feathers against the Uganda She Cranes.

The two teams last played each other back in 2018 at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, and it was the She Cranes that came out on top winning the match 76-40.

Vitality International Test Series

When: 5th-9th October
Where: Motorpoint Arena, Nottingham & Copper Box Arena, London

England will also be hosting Uganda in an international test series in October. The Roses will take on the She Cranes in a three-game series, with one match in Nottingham at the Motorpoint Arena and two at the Copper Box Arena in London.

The two teams last faced each other at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, and it was England that took the win, 56-33.

Netball World Cup Qualifiers – Europe

When: 12th-16th October
Where: Emirates Arena, Glasgow, Scotland

The Netball World Cup Qualifier – Europe is the fourth of the qualifying events for the Netball World Cup 2023 taking place in Cape Town, South Africa.

The event will involve hosts, Scotland, as well as Gibraltar, Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, and Wales.

The teams that finish in the top two positions will qualify to be invited to the Netball World Cup 2023.

Cadbury Netball Series – Constellation Cup

When: 12th – 23rd October
Where: New Zealand at the Spark Arena and Trustpower Arena and Australia at the John Cain Arena and Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.

This event will be played across two legs, with the first taking place in New Zealand and the second in Australia and will involve Australia and New Zealand.

There will be two matches in the New Zealand leg which will take place from 12th-16th October, and there will be two matches in the Australia leg which will take place from the 19th-23rd October.

Netball World Cup Qualifiers – Americas

When: 16th-21st October
Where: National Indoor Sport Centre, Kingston, Jamaica

The Netball World Cup Qualifiers – Americas will be the final Netball World Cup Qualifiers for the Netball World Cup Cape Town 2023.

The event will involve the hosts Jamaica, as well as Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Cayman Islands, Grenada, St. Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad & Tobago and the USA. 

Jamaica have already qualified for the Netball World Cup 2023 due to their world ranking, so will not be playing for qualification in this event. 

The teams that finish in the top two out of the other 8 countries competing will qualify to be invited by World Netball to the Netball World Cup 2023.

PacificAus Series

When: 16th-21st October
Where: University of Sunshine Coast, Australia 

Netball Australia, under the PacificAus Sports program and funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), will be hosting the second instalment of the PacificAus Sports Netball Series from the 16th – 21st October 2022.

This will involve Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, and Tonga, and two more teams from Australia will be competing as domestic invitees.

England Series 2022

When: 26th October – 3rd November
Where: Australia at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre, Qudos Bank Arena and Brisbane Entertainment Centre

Netball Australia will host England for three matches in the ‘England Series 2022’ from the 26th October – 3rd November with matches to be played in Newcastle, Sydney and Brisbane.

The last time the two teams faced each other was at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, when Australia beat England 60-51 in the semi-final, before the Diamonds went on to win the Games.
