Netball is a true community sport – its ability to bring people together and empower them is one of its great strengths.
Bethan Goodwin was a stand-out performer at this year’s Netball Europe Championships. Aged just 16, she was awarded the Player of the Tournament accolade, inspiring many young netballers. She now stars in Netball Scotland’s video campaign to showcase how the sport has empowered the community.
The Lesotho Netball Association has been spearheading the fight against maternal mortality in their country. Working alongside UNICEF, netball was recently taken to Melikane, where local people played the game whilst learning essential skills.
England Netball recently hosted their annual Marion Smith tournament for players with an intellectual disability. As well as competing for trophies in U16 and open age groups, the players were treated to a coaching session with England star Sasha Corbin.
