Get Active for #Olympic Day

This month, the International Olympic Committee is celebrating Olympic Day on 23rd June to promote the role of sport and physical activity in society.  Most importantly, there’s a call to action for everyone, everywhere, to get active, get moving and enjoy the numerous benefits sport has to offer.

INF President the Hon. Molly Rhone OJ, CD, who has recently been appointed to the IOC Sport and Active Society Commission, says:

“Statistics from the World Health Organisation show that over 80% of the world’s adolescent population is insufficiently physically active, and one in four adults is not active enough.

“Netballers everywhere are hugely important role models for these people and I urge all of you to get someone you know active this month.  Whether it’s getting your neighbour out for a walk or encouraging a friend to join in a netball session, the key is to inspire and empower them to get moving.

“Sport plays such an important part in bringing communities together and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to lead healthier lives.  Let us show everyone how the power of sport can unite and get more people active.”

How will you be celebrating Olympic Day this month?  Please send in your stories and photos to inf@netball.org showing how you have helped someone to get active, or maybe you’ve held a netball match to encourage new netballers to take part or just simply to mark the day.
