Former Jamaican Sunshine Girl, Jodi-Ann Ffrench-Kentish, sets up Jamaica’s First Youth Netball Academy

Former Jamaican Sunshine Girl, Jodi-Ann Ffrench-Kentish, has set up Jamaica’s first academy for young players aged six to 17.

Jodi-Ann, former Jamaican shooter, set up the non-profit academy in April 2021 focusing on developing young players from a variety of communities in Jamaica.

The first pilot programme begins on the 16th July 2022, and will run for six months with every Saturday, after 30th July, having a programme.

Speaking on the academy, Jodi-Ann said: “I have a small team working with me now but as it grows, as I hope it will, we are really looking at creating an entire sports complex where children can go and do their homework and follow up with their (netball) training.

“We have a long-term objective to have everything under one cover.”

World Netball’s official ball sponsor, Gilbert Netball, will be supplying the balls for the academy.
