The Netball Super League (NSL) began this weekend with London Pulse, Nottingham Forest, Loughborough Lightning and Leeds Rhinos getting off to winning starts live on NetballPass.*, BBC and Sky Sports.
Each round this season we will pick international players from each fixture that we believe deserve a spotlight:
London Pulse vs Manchester Thunder
First up, London Pulse made a strong start to their title defence season beating Manchester Thunder 56-51.
Pulse showed their class at both ends of the court, with Australian Sophie Fawns making her NSL debut in the shooting circle, and England Rose Halimat Adio relentless in defence making four deflections and four gains before being awarded Player of the Match.
It was Pulse’s ability to capitalise on Thunders errors that made the real difference.

London Mavericks vs Nottingham Forest
After being awarded Player of the Season in 2025, Rolene Streutker made sure she started the 2026 season just as strong, with the South Africa SPAR Protea scoring a last second goal to see Nottingham Forest beat London Mavericks 60-59.
With just 1 match down, Streutker now sits 3rd in the goals scored chart having scored all 30 of her one point attempts and she is top of the Amex Super Shots charts with 11 to her name so far this season.

Loughborough Lightning vs LexisNexis Dragons
Loughborough Lightning entered Round 1 of the NSL on a high, as the Soft & Gentle Super Cup Champions, and they did not let Dragons rain on their parade.
Keeping with theme of in form shooters, Trinidad & Tobago’s Samantha Wallace-Joseph had a strong start to the season scoring 34/36 goals putting herself top of the goals scored charts, as Lightning went on to win 75-60.
Despite being on the eventual losing side, Australian Jacqui Newton put out a promising performance for Dragons finishing Round 1 second in the deflections charts having made nine in the game.

Birmingham Panthers vs Leeds Rhinos
Leeds Rhinos new look squad came charging into the 2026 season beating Birmingham Panthers 54-39.
Rhinos seemed to become stronger as the game progressed, winning the final quarter 18-9.
Our final international player spotlight of Round 1 goes to their new Jamaican Sunshine Girl, Simone Gordon, who scored 33 goals on her NSL debut.
