This weekend was the penultimate round of the Netball Super League (NSL) before the Semi-Finals, and it did not disappoint.
Even though all Semi-Finals spots have been claimed by Manchester Thunder, Loughborough Lightning, London Pulse and Severn Stars, we still do not know if Pulse or Lightning will finish second and play at home in theirs.
This could have been decided this round as they went head-to-head, but London Pulse made sure it went down to the wire as they made a second half comeback to beat Lightning 61-59, meaning that the battle for second place and that home Semi-Final will go down to the last round of the season.
It was a full team performance that made Pulse’s comeback happen, with their attacking line-up including England Rose’s Olivia Tchine and Izzi Phillips, as well as South Africa SPAR Protea Nichole Taljaard, all also doing their part in defence making at least one gain each.
Sam Bird’s side now know a home Semi-Final is still within their reach if they can beat Saracens Mavericks next weekend and Lightning slip up against Severn Stars.
Mavericks will go into their clash with Pulse full of confidence though after their 71-54 win against Surrey Storm live on NetballPass this weekend.
Mavericks shot themselves up to 6th in the table with this victory, and England Rose Ellie Rattu was key in this victory as she made two interceptions, three deflections and four gains acting as real play marker at centre, and ensuring Storms third quarter comeback would not be enough.
You can catch up on both these games on NetballPass, here.
Elsewhere in the NSL, Manchester Thunder beat Strathclyde Sirens to ensure they finish top of the table this season, whilst Leeds Rhinos continued their push for 5th as they beat Cardiff Dragons 51-43, and Severn Stars shone in their last home game as they beat Team Bath 72-57.
In the Final Round of the NSL before the finals the Netball Family will be able to watch Loughborough Lightning vs Severn Stars and Cardiff Dragons vs Team Bath live on NetballPass.
