Netball Super League International Player Watch – Round 6

The Netball Super League (NSL) Round 6 took place this weekend live on NetballPass*, BBC and Sky Sports, with Pulse retaining their unbeaten record, Panthers securing their first win and much more!

Here is this week’s international player spotlight:

London Pulse vs Manchester Thunder

In the top of the table clash, it was London Pulse that came out on top over Manchester Thunder keeping their winning streak alive, as they won 61-56.  

England Rose and Pulse defender Funmi Fadoju was on fire in the clash, as she made three interceptions, six gains and 13 deflections – all of which proved crucial for her London based side.

Fadoju was later awarded Player of the Match for her performance.

London Mavericks vs Loughborough Lightning

Loughborough Lightning were able to leapfrog London Mavericks in the league this weekend when they beat them 57-69.

The lead changed hands throughout the first half, and it wasn’t until the 3rd quarter that Lightning really began to make their mark and pull away.

South Africa SPAR Protea, Shadine van der Merwe was unstoppable in defence for Lightning as the eventual Player of the Match made two defections, four interceptions and five gains.

Birmingham Panthers vs Nottingham Forest

Next up, the two new kids on the block Birmingham Panthers and Nottingham Forest went head-to-head, in what proved to be the closest contest of the round.

It was a tail of two halves, with Forest flying ahead at the start and Panthers pouncing back to take the lead in the second half, before going on to win the match 71-70.

Welsh Feather and Panthers shooter Betsy Creak was instrumental to the Birmingham sides success as she remained call, calm and collected scoring 22 goals and 9 Super Shots, before eventually being awarded the Player of the Match award.

Cardiff Dragons vs Leeds Rhinos

Leeds Rhinos were able to clench their second victory of the season when they beat Cardiff Dragons 52-63.

Malawi Queen Joyce Mvula was key to Rhinos roaring success as she scored 48 goals for her side, before she was eventually named Player of the Match.
