ANZ Premiership Serves up Big Results in Round 9, as Stars Get Their First Win of the Season

The ANZ Premiership continued to serve up top class action this weekend live on NetballPass with Stars recording their first victory of the season, and Tactix and Pulse putting out some dominant performances.

Stars shot into their game against Southern Steel, who have also been struggling at the bottom of the table, and took an early lead 17-10.

From then on the home side just continued to grow in confidence, looking as if they were not going to allow anything to stop them from picking up their first three points.

New Zealander Kate Burley was phenomenal at goalkeeper, making six interceptions and five deflections, as she dominated in defence helping her team win all four quarters, and the game 63-46.

Elsewhere, live on NetballPass, high flighting Tactix also reached the 60 mark as they beat Magic 42-60.

The game day started with Magic celebrating their 25 year history, but Tactix soon began to rain on their parade when the first whistle went and they took the lead 16-11.

From then on Tactix just seemed to capitalise on every Magic error, converting a high percentage of their turnovers at the other end to keep themselves ahead.

New Zealand Silver Fern Jane Watson played a fantastic game at goal defence for the away side, making 10 gains, five intercepts and seven deflections.

Despite Tactix win though, Pulse still remain top of the table as their 54-38 victory over Mystics kept them above Tactix on goal difference.

For Mystics this will be a game that they want to forget, especially the second quarter, which they went 13 minutes without scoring in, instead allowing Pulse to get 14 goals in a row.

Mystics did respond in the fourth quarter, drawing this 13 all, but it was too little too late against top of the table Pulse.

Silver Fern Claire Kersten was untouchable in the centre court, with everything she touched turning to gold as she made 42 feeds, 19 goal assists, one gain and intercept at centre for Pulse.

Next up in the ANZP, the international Netball Family will be able to watch the two teams at the top, Tactix and Pulse go head-to-head, whilst Mystics will take on Stars, and Magic will face Steel – all live on NetballPass.
