The Roses Reunited Test Series came to an end this weekend in Nottingham, with the England Roses securing the trophy after winning two out of three of the test matches against Jamaica.
The Series started on the 28th November with the England Roses beating the Jamaican Sunshine Girls 55-45, following a second half come back from the home side.
This Roses victory meant that the Jamaican Sunshine girls had to win the second test in Nottingham in order to have any chance of winning the series.
However, Jess Thirlby’s side started the second test match firing from the get-go, and led their visitors 21-13 by the end of the first quarter, before doubling their lead at half-time making their intentions for the game clear.
The Roses went on to win the second match 66-47, which secured them the series with one game to go.
However, that didn’t stop the Jamaican sunshine Girls from coming out strong in the final test of the series with World Netball World Ranking points still up for grabs.
A dominant display in the Jamaican defence, from Shamera Sterling and Kadie-Ann Dehaney, disrupted the flow of England’s attack and denied the Roses from finishing the series unbeaten.
Instead, it was the Sunshine Girls that finished the series on a high beating the hosts 53-63, with World Netball Ambassador Shamera Sterling being crowned player of the match.
Well done to England Netball for hosting a successful series, and to the Roses on their series victory.
