OLIVIA SIMONE WINS WORLD NETBALL VIRTUAL MOSAIC COMPETITION

World Netball has today announced Olivia Simone from the United Kingdom as the winner of their virtual mosaic competition.

The mosaic was part of the ‘Your Netball World’ campaign which was launched following the International Netball Federations rebrand to World Netball.

Over 1,400 individuals submitted their image and message to the virtual mosaic which now forms the new World Netball logo, and Olivia was picked at random to win a once-in-a-lifetime trip for two the Netball World Cup 2023 in Cape Town, South Africa.

Olivia’s entry alongside an image of her and her teammates said: “I’ll never stop playing netball. It shaped me into who I am today. More confident and more sure of myself. I’m trying to win at life on my own terms. Netball has always been there, helping me overcome life challenges. I’ve played this sport for 16 years.”

Commenting on her win, Olivia said: “I cannot believe that I am the lucky winner of this incredible competition.

“When World Netball contacted me, I thought it was a prank, but after realising that I was indeed the winner I am absolutely ecstatic.

“Netball has been a big part of my life for many years, and it was my secondary netball coach who encouraged me to be a great player.

“I can’t wait to attend World Netball’s flagship event in the city of Cape Town, South Africa.”

World Netball CEO Clare Breigal was equally as happy for Olivia, she added: “Congratulations to Olivia on winning a trip to the Netball World Cup 2023, Cape Town.

“The virtual mosaic showcased hundreds of netball stories from all around the world and it was great to see so many inspiring, skilled, and enthusiastic netballers, and hear about their stories. The whole world is excited for 2023 and I am sure Olivia is the same.”
