Pool A – Northern Ireland v South Africa – (1pm)
Both Northern Ireland and South Africa will be looking to get their first wins under their belt in the opening game of day three. This will be the first meeting between the pair on the Commonwealth Games stage.
On day two South Africa marginally lost to Jamaica while Northern Ireland had a difficult evening against World Champions Australia on day one. A win for either side will keep their hopes of a top two finish alive.
Pool B – Uganda v Malawi – (3pm)
Over to Pool B, where an all African tie between Uganda and Malawi will take centre stage. Again, this will be the first time ever we see these sides meet at the Commonwealth Games.
Both sides had difficult opening fixtures against New Zealand and England but there were positives to take away from both games. Uganda pushed the Silver Ferns all the way on day one, with Peace Proscovia grabbing 35 goals. Malawi’s shooter Mwai Kumwenda also put in a good showing against England, converting 31 times.
Malawi (6) rank just one ahead of Uganda (7) in the INF World Rankings making this game a difficult one to predict.
Pool B – Scotland v Wales – (6:30pm)
Scotland and Wales have been no strangers as of late. Both sides met in the Netball Europe Open in October of last year and more recently in the Netball World Cup 2019 Regional Qualifier – Europe, in January.
The Thistles have had the better of the Welsh in recent times, however, Wales impressed on day two. Wales outscored the Silver Ferns in the second quarter, the first time they have ever managed to do that. Both Caralea Moseley and the recalled Chelsea Lewis were causing problems in the final third.
Scotland have their fair share of dangerous players too. Eighteen year old shooter Bethan Goodwin looked right at home in the Thistles dress when she took on England in their opening game. This should be another close game to call.
Pool A – Fiji v Barbados – (8:30pm)
Manchester 2002 was the last time Fiji and Barbados met at the Commonwealth Games. Only two goals separated the sides that day with the Bajan Gems taking the win.
Both sides had tough openers against Jamaica and Australia but both showed at times that they can be a threat in the final third.
Again, this is due to be another close one as Barbados (11) rank just one ahead of Fiji (12) in the INF World Rankings.
