World Netball (WN), the international governing body for netball, has today announced the launch of its new charitable arm, the World Netball Foundation (WN Foundation) at its Congress ahead of the Netball World Cup 2023. This charitable foundation will build upon the promise made in WN’s 2021 strategy to “harness the power of netball to change lives”.
With an over-arching vision of creating new possibilities through netball, the WN Foundation will use the reach of netball to deliver positive and lasting outcomes via three core, inter-linked strategies: individuals, communities, and societies. Working strategically in partnership will be key, collaborating with governments, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), and local organisations to develop locally managed, sustainable programmes.
Commenting on the launch of the WN Foundation, WN President and WN Foundation Chair, Dame Liz Nicholl DBE, said: “The launch of the World Netball Foundation is a crucial step forward in our commitment to using netball as a vehicle to drive positive change around the world.
“We firmly believe in the power of our sport to transform lives, and through the World Netball Foundation we will be able to extend our reach and make an even greater impact on individuals, communities, and societies.
“It’s a privilege to be part of this journey and I look forward to seeing the World Netball Foundation flourish as it sets out to develop partnerships to support delivery of its ambitious strategy.”
