World Netball (WN) will today, Thursday 10th July, be hosting its Congress virtually.
Congress, which is the meeting of the Membership of WN, was last held in 2023 ahead of the Netball World Cup 2023 (NWC2023) in Cape Town, South Africa.
WN President, Dame Liz Nicholl DBE, has this morning opened proceedings saying: “After six years as your President, I still feel as privileged to be addressing you all today as I did in Liverpool in 2019.
“Your collective commitment as national leaders is creating an environment in which lives are changed, and talent thrives.
“Thank you for all that you do to create a better world through netball.”
World Netball CEO, Fiona Harold, will now go on to conduct a roll call of Members, with 49 Full Members and three Associate Members expected to be present, before then honouring those members of the Netball Family who have passed since the last Congress in 2023, and presenting her Board Report.
WN Finance Director, Suri Bartlett will report on the finances of the Federation.
Items on the agenda include proposed changes to the articles of association, as well as three items for discussion which have been submitted by WN Full Members.
The election and appointment of Officers will also take place, which includes the election of the WN Vice President (VP) and re-appointment of WN Independent Director, Rob Mills.
Current VP Shirley Hooper has reached the end of her first term, and will be running again for the role, alongside second candidate, Kate Palmer AM.
Local Organising Committees of the Netball World Youth Cup 2025 in Gibraltar and Netball World Cup 2027 in Australia will also be given the opportunity to present to Members, before Fiona Harold goes through the bidding process for future WN events.
To end the proceedings, the WN Service Awards will be presented.
An announcement on the elections and appointments will take place today, and a full list of Service Awardee’s will be published on the WN website.
