Round 11 of the ANZ Premiership took place this weekend, with all six teams once again taking to court.
It only seems right in our round-up to start with top of the table Tactix, who put on another masterclass live on NetballPass this time beating Steel, and breaking records in the process.
Their 71-47 victory was their biggest ever in their 17-year history, and with it being their 10th victory of the season, it also marked their longest winning sequence during a regular season.
In their dominant display it was fantastic to see Silver Fern Aliyah Dunn return to court following injury, with Dunn playing 24 minutes and scoring 18 out of 18 of her shots in that time; a perfect return!
Hot on the tails of Tactix are Pulse, and they got back to winning ways in Round 11 beating Stars, however their victory was not as convincing.
Stars, who are currently second from bottom in the table, held their own against Pulse never allowing them to pull away with the score sitting at 35 – 32 in Pulse’s favour with 15-minutes to go.
Stars shot into the final quarter, eventually drawing it, but just like in Round 10 against Mystics their last quarter comeback was not enough to win the game.
However, it was enough for them to claim their all-important eighth bonus point of the season.
The introduction of Tiana Metuarau in the second half was key for Pulse, as her vision and pass execution to Martina Salmon made a real difference, with Pulse eventually winning 46-43 live on NetballPass.
The final game of the weekend in the ANZP saw Magic jump into 3rd place as they beat Mystics 42-54, keeping Magic’s Finals hopes alive.
It was a full team effort that led to Magic securing this win, but it was a special day in particular for two of their attackers, Claire O’Brien and Saviour Tui, who both played in their 50th national league game against non-other their former team.
Samoan, Tui, put on a shooting masterclass as she appeared confident under post scoring 34 from 39, teaming up with Silver Fern Ameliaranne Ekenasio, who scored 20 out of 22 of her shots.
