Ascot Park Hotel Steel have made their first Grand Final in eight years after they beat defending Champions Tactix in the ANZ Premiership (ANZP) Elimination Final.
Steel got off to a strong start, with two Silver Ferns Aliyah Dunn and Carys Stythe on fire at either end of the court as they went 17 – 11 up in the first 15 minutes.
Following the first break, Steel continued where they left off scoring three goals in quick succession.
Stythe made four interceptions and four deflections in the first half alone as Steel went on to take an 8-goal lead into the main break.
The second half was a much closer encounter, with Tactix able to stop Steel pulling away any further in the 3rd quarter holding them to a 16 – 16 draw.
The visitors began to find shooter Charlie Bell in the circle, who was very accurate when given the opportunity scoring 32/33 of her shots.
Tactix continued to find their rhythm in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late as Steel won the game 60 – 54 to progress to the Grand Final.
