Netball included on the sports programme for the Commonwealth Games Amdavad 2030.

Commonwealth Sport (CS) has today announced Amdavad, India (also known as Ahmedabad) as the hosts of the Commonwealth Games 2030, with netball included on the list of eight initial sports.

Netball, which is also on the programme for Glasgow 2026 next summer, has been an integral part of the Commonwealth Games since Malaysia 1998, and has continued to attract a significant global audience to the Games over the last seven editions, with over 150,000 tickets sold for the netball competition at Birmingham 2022 and a further 34.5 million tuning in to watch on linear TV across netball’s core markets.

The other seven initial sports for Amdavad 2030, alongside netball, are athletics and para athletics, swimming and para swimming, table tennis and para table tennis, bowls and para bowls, weightlifting and para powerlifting, artistic gymnastics, and boxing.

Speaking on the announcement, World Netball (WN) President Dame Liz Nicholl DBE said: “We are thrilled that netball has been named on the sports programme for another Commonwealth Games.

“As we look to build our new Global Events Strategy, showcasing the very best of our sport to more people more often, the Commonwealth Games remains a key part of the World Netball international calendar.

“It is fantastic that another cohort of players will get the opportunity to play in this world-class multi-sport event.”

A selection process will now follow to determine the remainder of the Amdavad 2030 sport programme, with 15 to 17 sports expected to feature in the final programme which will be confirmed in 2026.
