Melbourne Vixens comeback to defeat Swifts by one & progress to Grand Final

Melbourne Vixens have become the final team to progress to the Suncorp Super Netball League (SSN) Grand Final, after putting on a stunning comeback against NSW Swifts, live and on demand on NetballPass*.

Vixens were behind by 10 late in the penultimate quarter, but they only used the scoreline to fuel their fire as they bounced back in the final 15 minutes of the game – ensuring it wasn’t their last quarter of the season.

Vixens remained calm and composed in the final quarter, whilst Swifts, who had only had two unforced errors the entire game, racked up another three in the last 15 minutes.

Captain Kate Moloney lead the way as Vixens looked to pull it back, with her fellow Australian Diamond teammate Sophie Garbin remaining calm under pressure as she levelled things up with just two minutes on the clock.

Vixens then played a possession game, keeping hold of the ball for an impressive 73 seconds before going to post and taking the lead, giving the home side just seven seconds to respond and bring things back level.

Swifts took the ball to goal in the closing seconds, but England Rose Helen Housby failed to convert under post, as Vixens won the final quarter 14-25, and the game 65-66, firing themselves into the Grand Final, where the Minor Premiers, West Coast Fever are waiting for them.
