Malaysia Win Gold On Home Soil

A capacity crowd at the Juara Stadium in Kuala Lumpur saw hosts Malaysia take gold for the first time in 16 years at the South East Asian Games which took place between the 14th and 20th of August 2017.

Malaysia dethroned reigning champions and strong favorites Singapore 65-41 in the final that had the country’s Prime Minister in attendance along with over 500 fans outside the arena who displayed their support despite not having tickets. This was a rematch of the final from 2 years ago where Singapore took home the gold, but this time the honors went to the hosts Malaysia.

The competition featured 5 teams which all competed in a round robin with the top 4 sides going through to the semi finals. Here are the results which can be looked at in more detail here
