International Women’s Day 2020

#EachForEqual

Today marks International Women’s Day (IWD) 2020. As the leading sport for women and girls around the world, today, the International Netball Federation celebrates you. Whether you are a player in our sport, be it grass-roots or elite, a coach, umpire, volunteer or a fan, we salute you.

This year’s International Women’s Day campaign “Each for Equal” focuses on collectively making change happen and creating a gender equal world. Through the development of our sport, we are actively coming together to fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women’s achievements. We will also continue to challenge gender stereotypes by empowering women to be leaders both on and off the court.

To the government, administrators and NGO’s, thank you for making it possible for women and girls to play sport, any sport.

To the athletes who are inspiring and motivating the next generation, we thank you for encouraging women and girls to build confidence and reinforcing life skills whilst breaking stereotypes.

To our netball family, we thank you for being on this journey as we continue our development in the global game. We look forward to seeing how our work can continue to change the lives of millions.

Thanks to the media who are working to promote women’s achievements in sport and deliver gender balanced sports coverage. We are witnessing a change, and will continue to work with our stakeholders to enable netball to reach women and girls the world over.

We acknowledge the sponsors and partners who act to reduce inequality in funding and enable women to play sport and recognise those that strive to tackle education, health inequalities, and those who assist women to break free of poverty or domestic abuse.

The INF is committed to the empowerment of women and girls through netball, not just today but every day, and IWD marks our commitment and continued affirmation for a gender equal world in sport.

Join us as we work to accelerate gender equality.

Let’s all be #EachforEqual

International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women – while also making a call to action for accelerating gender equality. The first International Women’s Day occurred in 1911, supported by over one million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group or organisation specific.

The IWD 2020 campaign theme is drawn from a notion of ‘Collective Individualism.’ We are all parts of a whole. Our individual actions, conversations, behaviours and mindsets can have an impact on our larger society. Collectively, we can make change happen and help to create a gender equal world.
