Looking Ahead To The Vitality Netball Superleague Finals Weekend

The Vitality Netball Superleague is set for an exciting finals weekend at the Copper Box London, where the top four will battle it out to be crowned champions.

After the UK league was suspended in 2020 due to Covid, we were left almost a year without any Superleague netball.

However, since the leagues return in February 2021, the 11 teams involved have brought all the action to our screens on Sky Sports YouTube.

In fact, the season has arguably been one of the most entertaining yet, with the top three of Loughborough Lightning, Manchester Thunder and Team Bath, all sitting on 51 points – only being separated by goal difference.

Lightning narrowly clinched the top spot on the final day of the regular season, on Monday 21st June, when they beat fellow finalists Bath 54-35, whilst Thunder’s win over Strathclyde Sirens kept them in the mix.

The final team to join them in the finals weekend will be Leeds Rhinos, who secured their place after a positive Covid test meant they could not play their final two games and they were given the full six points based on their previous results.

This is some achievement for Dan Ryan’s Rhinos side, as it is their inaugural season, but to reach Sunday’s final they now must-see of league leaders Lightning on Saturday 26th June.

Meanwhile, the second semi-final will see season favourites Bath take on 3rd place Thunder.

The weekend is sure to be a great showcase for the UK league, but with all teams suffering defeat at some point this season it is impossible to predict what the final could look like.

Despite beating table-toppers Lightning, Thunder are still yet to be victorious over their semi-final opponents Bath and Rhinos are still without a victory over any of the top three.

The final weekend will be played in-front of 1,000 fans at the Copper Box, London, but you can keep up to date with all the results on Sky Sports YouTube.
