#InternationalFriendshipDay2020

Today, 30th July 2020 marks International Day of Friendship, a day that recognises the relevance and importance of friendship as a noble and valuable sentiment in the lives of human beings around the world. The International Day of Friendship was proclaimed in 2011 by the UN General Assembly with the idea that friendship between peoples, countries, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities.

Netball, the number one female participating team sport in the world is based around friendship. Whether it’s playing in a team, working to develop netball in communities or socialising at netball events, at every aspect, netball provides opportunities for friendships to start, grow and prosper. The sport also enables people to develop key characteristics that form the basis of friendships including trust, communication and common interests.

One of the INF’s values in its current strategic plan is to create opportunities to foster lifelong friendship through the love of netball. Over the past year, INF has continued to work with its Members to develop initiatives that will positively impact people and communities around the world through the sport.

As we celebrate International Friendship Day and the sport of Netball, we are giving you and your best friend the chance to win matching Gilbert Netball dresses. Simply head to our social media channels (linked below), and comment your favourite thing about them to be in with the chance of winning. The winner will be announced on Monday 3rd August 2020.
