World Netball Celebrates Commonwealth Day 2022

Today, the 14th March 2022, is Commonwealth Day, a day which is celebrated annually and observed by people all over the Commonwealth in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Americas, the Pacific and Europe.

The Commonwealth Family is made up of 54 Member countries, and out of our 78 World Netball Members 46 are included within the Commonwealth making the day important for many of our Netball Family.

With the Commonwealth Games taking place this year, in Birmingham, and 2022 being her Majesty’s Jubilee year, this is a very special day with lots to celebrate and look forward to.

The theme for the day is ‘Delivering a Common Future’ which highlights how the 54 Member Countries in the Commonwealth Family are ‘innovating, connecting and transforming’ to help achieve goals like fighting climate change, promoting good governance, and boosting trade.

At World Netball, our three core strategies: To Grow, To Play and To Inspire, align with this theme as we collaborate with our Commonwealth Members to increase global participation, drive game development worldwide and harness the power of netball to change lives. All which we underline with good governance, as we remain a leader in best practice.

Join us today as we celebrate Commonwealth Day and all that it means.

Tag us in your posts celebrating Commonwealth Day and use the hashtag #CommonwealthDay so that everyone in our Netball Family can see how you are celebrating.

This Commonwealth Day, we want to highlight the work our Regional Development Manager for Africa, Joan Smit, does in Africa.

Joan is a key example of someone innovates, connects, and transforms within the Commonwealth as she develops netball within Africa.
