Young netballers all over Australia will have access to online clinics through the launch of Netball Australia’s newest online innovation, Suncorp NetSetGO Playground.
With more than 43,000 registered participants this year, Suncorp NetSetGO is Australia’s official starter program for girls and boys aimed at teaching kids the basics of netball.
The online Suncorp NetSetGO Playground platform has been developed by Netball Australia not to replace but rather to complement the physical Suncorp NetSetGO clinics and to keep the next generation of netball stars active and engaged with the sport as Australia makes the journey back from the COVID-19 lockdown.
The 30-minute on-demand sessions will see all registered Suncorp NetSetGO participants put through their paces weekly by qualified Suncorp NetSetGO coaches and special guests such as netball stars Jo Weston and Kate Moloney.
The beta platform will also serve as a long-term solution for the program, giving Suncorp NetSetGO participants the opportunity to complete the weekly session on-demand, whenever and wherever they like, initially being offered as a complementary product for existing participants.
Netball Australia Executive General Manager of Sport Melonie Lowe said the online innovation of Suncorp NetSetGO has been in the works for a while.
“Developing Suncorp NetSetGO into an online product is something we have been planning as a business for some time, however, the COVID-19 situation fast-tracked that process, so we were able to ensure that we are delivering the program to our registered participants this year,” she said.
“Suncorp NetSetGO Playground is one part of Netball Australia’s overarching digital strategy aimed at engaging Australians of all ages with netball. While there’s plenty more digital activity to roll out in the coming months, we’re excited to see this element being delivered to kids and parents in lounge rooms and backyards right around Australia from today.”
Suncorp Executive General Manager Brand and Marketing Mim Haysom said Suncorp is delighted to be involved in the new initiative.
“The Suncorp NetSetGo Playground program is another innovative and practical way to keep young netballers active, inspired and motivated during these uncertain times. We are thrilled to be working with Netball Australia on enabling kids to remain engaged with the sport and keep the passion alive until they can all be together again on the netball court.”
The activities within the sessions are aligned and designed to complement the normal Suncorp NetSetGO clinics, including ball skills, footwork, balance and movement, shooting, offensive and defensive skills, netball knowledge, teamwork and confidence.
