First up we have Adelaide Thunderbirds, a club that is not shy of a successful season having won six premierships in their history, most recently winning back-to-back titles in 2024.
Thunderbirds finished the 2025 season in 3rd place, before losing their Minor Semi-Final 56-58 to Melbourne Vixens preventing them from progressing to the Finals.
Head Coach Tania Obst has brought in some key new international stars to Thunderbirds for 2026, including South African SPAR Protea Elmere van der Berg.
The shooter was a key part of Manchester Thunders Netball Super League team last season, where she scored 496 goals and 83 Super Shots.
The excitement doesn’t stop there for Thunderbirds, as they have also added Silver Fern Kate Heffernan to their already strong squad.
The centre court player brings plenty of leadership experience having captained Southern Steel in the ANZ Premiership last season and been Vice-Captain of the Silver Ferns.
To build the excitement, here is van der Berg in action during the 2024 season.
Giants grew into to the 2025 season after a tricky start, eventually finishing 6th in the league.
The team in orange will be hoping for a stronger start to the 2026 season, and to go with that they have a new look squad.
Giants welcome Silver Fern and Netball World Cup 2019 winner Jane Watson to the defensive mix, who will slot in alongside their 2025 MVP Amy Sligar, who has been named as an Origin Diamonds Invitee for 2025/2026.
Hope White, who has part of the Diamonds winning Netball World Youth cup 2025 (NWYC2025) winning squad, has also been give her first full time contract.
With a mixture of up-and-coming players and proven playmakers, there is certainly much to be optimistic about at Giants this season.

Another team that will be seeing plenty of change in 2026 is Melbourne Mavericks, with only three of their original 10 players remaining, teamed with the departure of Head Coach Tracey Neville.
However, there is still reason to be positive with Australian Diamond Jamie-Lee Price joining from Giants, and Jamaican Sunshine Girl Shimona Jok showing her commitment to the club for the 2026 season.
Jok scored 635 goals last season, putting her 3rd in the leagues goal scored charts and Mavericks fans will be hoping for more of the same this season.
Here is Jok in action in her 100th SSN game last season.
Melbourne Vixens will be looking to make it back-to-back titles this year, after they won their first Premiership since 2020 in 2025, beating West Coast Fever 58-59 in the Grand Final.
Australian Diamond defender Jo Weston was key to Vixens victorious season in 2025, where she played the most minutes in the league, making 29 pick-ups, 15 intercepts, 41 gains and 50 deflections – and she is here to stay for 2026.
At the other end of the court, the international Netball Family will be excited to see Lily Graham, who was recently named Player of the Tournament at the NWYC2025, when Australia were crowned Champions.
With experience and up and coming Diamonds on the court, this is a team you won’t want to take your eyes off this season.
Here is a reminder of just how good Graham was at the NWYC2025.
Swifts will be hoping to go one better this year and make the Grand Final after they missed out by just one goal to the hands of SSN’s eventual Champions, Vixens in 2025.
Swifts still have arguably one of the most exciting shooting circles going into the new season, with England Rose Helen Housby and New Zealand Silver Fern Grace Nweke ready for their second year in partnership.
Nweke finished the league with 718 goals to her name making her the 2nd highest goal scorer in the league during her inaugural year, whilst Housby sits top of the Super Shots charts having score 60 of those.
Here is Helen Housby doing what she does best.
Queensland Firebirds are one of the most successful sides in Australian history, however, last season was not to be for them as they finished bottom of the league.
Going into the 2026 season they have freshened things up, adding in a Silver Fern to all three thirds of the court.
Silver Ferns goal attack Te Paea Selby-Rickit will join Uganda’s Mary Cholhok in the shooting circle, whilst Maddy Gordon will add extra speed and intensity to the mid court and Kelly Jackson will become a force to be reckoned with in the defensive end.
With new combinations on court, the question remains will the Firebirds have what it takes to get back on track in 2026.
In case you need a reminder of just how good Jackson is, here are a few clips of her in action against the England Rose’s.
Sunshine Coast Lightning just missed out on a top four finish and the Semi Finals last year, after they finished in 5th four points behind eventual Grand Final winners Vixens.
Boosting their chances of making the Finals this year is the introduction of Australian Diamond shooter, Donnel Wallam.
Wallam played in the ANZ Premiership last season for the Northern Mystics, where she was part of the team that won the Minor Premiership when they finished top of the table.
Wallam scored 311 goals that season, making her the 4th highest goal scorer in the league.
Here is Wallam on her debut in the ANZ last season making an instant impact.
Lightning fans will be hoping she can bring more of the same to the SSN this season.
West Coast Fever will be looking for revenge this season, after they finished 2025 top of the table but then failed to secure the title after they lost the Grand Final to Vixens by just one goal.
Just like their Grand Final 2025 opponents, Fever are backing there 2025 side and remain virtually unchanged heading into the 2026 season.
However, one face that Fever fans will be happy to see back on their roster is England Rose Sasha Glasgow.
The shooter played 45 games for Fever between 2021-2023, before moving over to Mavericks, however she is now back for a second stint at the club.
Glasgow scored 87 goals last season, including 30 Super Shots and alongside Jamaican Sunshine Girl Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard, Australian Diamond Alice Teague-Neeld, and young star Olivia Wilkinson Fever now have a clinical shooting roster that can’t be ignored.
Here is a reminder of why Fowler-Nembhard was the league’s top goal scorer last season.
