World Netball (WN) has today updated its WN World Rankings with the England Roses moving up into 2nd place, over taking New Zealand, following the Roses 2-1 Taini Jamison Trophy series victory over the Silver Ferns.
There is now just one rating point separating England and New Zealand, with the Silver Ferns having dropped one to 188 and the Roses gaining two, to now sit on 189.
There are no other changes in the top 10.
The WN World Ranking update includes all results from matches up until and including the 6th October, meaning results from the Paradise Ranking Series, Mirxes Nations Cup, England vs Australia Series and ECCB International Series have also been included.
During this time Canada have re-entered the rankings at 45th due to their participation in the Mirxes Nations Cup leading to them reaching the minimum number of matches in a ranking period (8) required to gain a ranking, this means there are now 48 ranked teams.
The Republic of Ireland also played in the Mirxes Nations Cup, losing four out of five of their matches, only beating Canada, meaning they dropped from 22nd to 25th.
Meanwhile, due to the same series, Kenya have moved up four places to 26th increasing their rating by eight having only lost once at the series.
Kenya’s rise in the table means Gibraltar, USA, Papua New Guinea, and France all drop down one place each.
The Paradise Ranking Series continued to change the WN World Ranking table, with the Barbados Gems losing all three of their matches against Northern Ireland, meaning their rating decreased by three and they dropped to 16th swapping place with Zambia who are now 15th.
Northern Ireland remain 11th, but their results did mean their rating increased by five, putting them hot on the tails of 10th placed Scotland.
The ECCB International Series results caused significant movements in the WN World Rankings too, with the highest change in the table being at 20st, with Grenada having dropped one place to here.
Next up, St Lucia had a very successful series moving up five places to 33rd , with their rating increasing from 17 to 24 due to them winning three out of five of their games.
Other changes following this series included Antigua and Barbuda dropping from 33rd to 36th, Cayman Islands moving up one place to 38th, and Dominica dropping two places to 44th.
