Commonwealth Sport (CS) has today announced that the Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG) Malta 2027 will take place from 30th October – 4th November 2027, with the netball competition taking place at the Gozo Indoor Sports Pavillion.
This follows the news in July 2025 that netball would be included on the sports programme for the CYG for just the second time.
Netball was first included in the event in 2023, in the format of FAST5, however, for this edition of the CYG the 7s format will be played.
The Malta 2027 Opening Ceremony will take place on Friday 29th October, and will be followed by an action packed six-day sport programme involving eight sports and seven world class venues, across the islands of Malta and Gozo.
The Gozo Indoor Sports Pavillion, home of the netball competition, was opened in September 2025 and is the first building of its kind in Gozo.
Malta is expecting to host approximately 1,200 athletes, aged 14-18 from across the Commonwealth’s 74 nations and territories, with teams for the netball competition still to be confirmed.
Speaking about the Commonwealth Youth Games, Commonwealth Sport Chief Executive Katie Sadleir said: “Malta 2027 promises an electrifying and competitive atmosphere, showcasing the home of Maltese sport.
“World class facilities will provide our young athletes with a truly transformative experience, helping to inspire and develop the stars of tomorrow.
“We are looking forward to what will be a fantastic Games.”
