Round 6 of the ANZ Premiership (ANZP) took place this weekend, live and on demand on NetballPass, Sky Sport and TVNZ, with up-and-coming Silver Ferns stealing the show.
Here is this week’s International Player Watch:
Stars vs Steel
First up, we had a bottom of the table clash, and it was steel that proved the strongest as they won all four quarters, and the match 46 – 62 against Stars.
Up and coming Silver Fern Carys Stythe dominated the defensive circle for Steel as she made five interceptions and six deflections.
Sythe now sits top the leagues statistics charts for deflections, with 32 to her name and second in the charts for interceptions with 13 so far this season.

Tactix vs Pulse
Tactix strengthened their lead at the top of the table this weekend as they beat Pulse 61 – 50.
It was Pulse that started the strongest in match, but once Tactix found their rhythm mid-way through the first half there was no stopping them.
Sticking with the theme of young Silver Ferns stealing the show, Martina Salmon was on fine form in the shooting circle as she shot at 90% and scored the only Super Shot of the game in the closing stages of the second quarter.

Mystics vs Magic
The final match of the round was the closest encounter, with Mystics just about managing to hold on to get a 40 – 38 win over Magic.
The home side were seven up going into the final 15 minutes, but Magic came out fighting winning the last quarter 8 – 13 and coming so close to stealing the win.
It was another young Silver Fern that stole the show, this time in goal keeper Catherine Hall.
Hall made seven interceptions and six deflections at goal keeper, all which proved crucial in a tightly contested game.
