There was no stopping Mystics in the ANZ Premiership (ANZP) Grand Final as they cruised to their fourth title, beating Southern Steel 56 – 46 live on NetballPass*.
After falling short last year, it was clear Mystics weren’t going to let the same happen in 2026 as they got off to a flying start winning the opening quarter 15 – 11 thanks to pinpoint feeds from Peta Toeava and clinical shooting from Filda Vui, who went on to score 27/29 in the match.
By half time Mystics were up by six, which fired Steel up to have a strong start to the second half with Silver Fern Carys Stythe making an all-important gain that saw her team score three goals in a row and close in on Mystics.
However, unfortunately for Steel experience was not on their side in their first Grand Final in eight years and although they managed to stay within touching distance of Mystics for the first three quarters, it was the seasoned Mystics that always seemed to find an answer.
Mystics dominated the fourth quarter with Silver Fern Maia Wilson controlling the shooting circle and causing Steel all sort of issues, finishing the game with a shooting accuracy of 94%.
At the other end of the court Silver Fern Phoenix Karaka also played a vital role with eight deflections and three interceptions all which proved crucial as Mystics won the Final, 56 – 46.
