Telkom Netball League

The Telkom Netball League (TNL) is South Africa’s elite domestic league.

The 2026 season will consist of three power weeks, running from 24th April – 15th June. 

Power Week 1: 24th April – 2nd May 2026 at Durban University of Technology, Steve Biko Campus, KwaZulu-Natal

Power Week 2: 22nd –31st May 2026 at Ellis Park Arena, Johannesburg

Final Week: 12th –15th June 2026, with the venue still to be announced. 

This year’s competition will once again feature 16 best provincial teams from across South Africa, alongside international invitational sides, including Malawi and Zimbabwe, adding an exciting global dimension to the competition.

International Player Watch 

There are lots of South Africa SPAR Proteas taking part in this years TNL.

Here are some you should look out for:

Crinums 

  • Refiloe Nketsa: centre court player known for her composure, consistency and leadership. Nkesta was Captain of the Crinums last year and has also played the role of vice-captain for South Africa at the FAST5 Netball World Series 2022.
  • Karla Victor: Joining Nketsa in midcourt is Karla Victor. Victor was vice-captain of the Baby SPAR Proteas squad at the Netball World Youth Cup 2025, where South Africa made history finishing 4th, their best ever result at this tournament. 

Golden Fireballs

  • Tarle Mathe: Tarle Mathe is hoping for another show stopping season in the TNL after she was crowned Player of the Tournament in Division 1 of the league last season. Mathe was named best mid-court played at the SPAR Challenge 2026 against England.
  • Owethu Ngubane: Mathe wasn’t the only Golden Fireballs player that picked up an award last season, Owethu Ngubane was also named Best Shooter of Division 1 in the TNL. Ngubane made her SPAR Proteas in debut in 2023 against the world number 1’s Australia during the Netball Quad Series 2023 and has since gone on to play for South Africa in their home Netball World Cup 2023.

 Jaguars

  • Kyla Dames: Kyla Dames was part of the Baby SPAR Proteas side that made history at the Netball World Youth Cup 2025, when they finished 4th, and has since gone on to make her SPAR Proteas debut in December 2025 at the Africa Netball Cup. On her debut, Dames was also awarded Player of the Match.

Southern Stings

  • Nichole Breedt: Having won the Netball Super League with London Pulse in the UK last season, super shooter Nichole Breedt has returned home to South Africa to play for Southern Stings in the TNL this season. Breedt scored 97 one point shots and 55 Super Shots in Pulses title winning campaign and is a regular in the SPAR Proteas squad.

Kingdom Stars

  • Nozipho Ntshangase: Nozipho Ntshangase was named Player of the Season in Division 2 of the TNL last year, where she helped get Kingdom Stars promoted back to Division 1 for the 2026 season. The defender was re-called to the SPAR Proteas squad in September 2025 thanks to her solid league performance.
  • Thulisile Maduna: Joining Ntshangase in defence again for Kingdom Stars this season is Thulisile Maduna who made her SPAR Proteas debut against England in January 2026. Maduna earned two caps during that series, which South Africa won.
