World Netball Athlete Director Stacey Francis-Bayman Praises Netball World Cup Sydney 2027’s Ambitious Brand

World Netball (WN), Netball Australia (NA) and the Netball World Cup Sydney 2027 (NWC2027) Local Organising Committee (LOC) last week launched the brand identity for the NWC2027.

WN Athlete Director, Stacey Francis-Bayman, joined Government Ministers and Representatives, as well as other netball executives and stars of international netball, at the event which coincided with two years to go until the Final of the NWC2027 is contested at Sydney Olympic Park on Sunday 5th September 2027.

Speaking at the event Francis-Bayman praised the LOC for their bold brand launch, saying: “I think the brand is incredible.

“The brand for Netball World Cup Sydney 2027 is a fantastic synergy with our vision and mission at World Netball.

“The vision for us is that there is an access point and a way to get involved in the sport for everybody, and I feel like the brand really embodies that.

“We are passionate about continuing to grow the sport, push revenue and really drive the sport into the future and the brand has a key role in doing that.

“Netball World Cup Sydney 2027 have been ambitious about pushing netball into the future.”

The NWC2027, which will be the 17th edition of the tournament, will take place from the 25th August – 5th September 2027, with all 64 matches taking place in one venue and on one court.

Francis-Bayman believes having one venue will only improve the experience for all: “There are going to be 16 teams, competing across 12 days from all five of the World Netball Regions, and the games are going to be fantastic.

“From a spectator’s point of view, the experience of having all of the matches in one venue is incredibly exciting.

“It helps with the production value and broadcast, and with the experience for fans and also the players too.

“The way that Netball World Cup Sydney 2027 is being bold and brave around owning their moment is very exciting.”

The NWC2027 will be the third time Sydney has hosted WN’s pinnacle event, following on from NWC1991 and NWC2015, with the NWC2015 Final between Australia and New Zealand remaining a world record crowd for a netball game, with an attendance of 16,752.

Francis-Bayman was part of the England team that finished 3rd at the NWC2015 in Sydney.

Speaking on her experience, Francis-Bayman said: “Sydney is just one of those places that I think is always on peoples bucket lists to visit.

“Australia is a netballing nation as well, so you know that when you are coming to an international netball event in Australia it is going to be elite.

“I have played in a Netball World Cup in Sydney, and the energy, vibe, professionalism and standards particularly for the players and staff participating is incredible.

“I think we will see 2027 go to a new level of professionalism as well.”
