The ANZ Premiership (ANZP) Elimination Final took place this weekend, with Mystics taking the win against Tactix to secure the last space in the Grand Final against Pulse.
It all came down to the final quarter in this one, as the score sat at 49-46 to Tactix at the last break.
With a spot in the Grand Final on the line, and a chance to defend their title too, Mystics showed no fear as they gave it their all in that closing period, winning it 15-22 and the match 64-68.
Mystics sensational comeback brought an end to Tactix best season in their history, but it was still a performance to be proud of for the team that bowed out.
At both ends of the court, for both teams, the shooters were sensational both in terms of accuracy and commanding their space, making it hard for anyone to win ball.
Ellie Bird scored 55/56 of her shots for Tactix, whilst Silver Fern Grace Nweke scored 60/70 at the other end for Mystics.
It was the super sub of Katie Te Ao to centre for Mystics that made the real difference in the final quarter, as she made an instant impact helping Mystics go on a five-goal scoring streak.
Te Ao made three goal assists and received the second phase of the centre pass three times in her 7 minutes on court – the stats of a real game changer.
Mystics will now play against table toppers Pulse in the Grand Final on the 4th August.
