NSW Swifts Win Australian Suncorp Super Netball League

The Australian Suncorp Super Netball League came to a climax this weekend when New South Wales Swifts beat local rivals Giants 63-59 in the Grand Final.

In a game that was expected to be goal for goal following recent results of 64-71 and 77 all between the two teams, Swifts took the fans by surprise and took a 6-0 lead in the opening minutes.

However, Giants did manage to claw themselves back into the game as the second half progressed and eventually win the final quarter.

That final quarter victory wasn’t enough to make remorse for Swifts strong start though, as the NSW team remained persistent forcing errors and ensuring they kept their lead and took home the victory.

The match was about more than the result though, as both teams hadn’t been home for over 9 weeks after a Sydney lockdown stopped them from returning.

Congratulations to all those who made the league happen, and to Swifts for their victory!
