International Netball Federation Statement

The International Netball Federation (INF) has been made aware of an article published on 18th April in the Sunday Times of South Africa regarding Netball South Africa and their management of a safeguarding case.  The INF is investigating the matter with Netball South Africa.

INF takes any matter relating to safeguarding children very seriously. It is essential that acts which compromise the safety and welfare of children are prevented, and that anyone who has contact with children in netball does so in line with INF’s guidance and adheres to the INF’s Guidelines for Safeguarding and Protecting Children which can be found here:

INF Guidelines for Safeguarding and Protecting Children

INF requires all Members and Regional Federations to adopt and/or demonstrate their commitment to the principles and practice of safeguarding as outlined in these Guidelines, by implementing comprehensive policies and appropriate practices which are consistent with the values set out in these Guidelines.

Safeguarding or child protection concerns relating to the sport of netball, whether new or historic, should normally be communicated to the relevant national netball association unless there is a reason why this is not appropriate.

Anyone who wishes to report any safeguarding concerns, misconduct, impropriety or possible breaches of INF Regulations, Rules or Codes of Conduct can do so by emailing confidential@netball.org where the report will be addressed.
