Netball: Black Roses Documentary – Exploring The History of Race and Diversity In Netball

‘Netball: Black Roses’ is available to watch On Demand via Sky Netball YouTube and NOW TV (the UK only). The documentary explores the history of race and diversity in netball as Vitality Netball Superleague Assistant Coach, Camilla Buchanan speaks to the first black athletes to wear the Rose, to the individuals who moved the sport on, and to current Roses.

Serena Guthrie, Vitality Roses co-captain talks to Camilla Buchanan about her inspiration and the importance of young athletes having role models to look up to.

Jodie Gibson also talks about role models and how those who went before her in an England dress motivated her to succeed.

Newton and Mkoloma, two of England’s most formidable Roses join Camilla Buchanan in the documentary to share what it was like to play for England Netball back in 1996, and the importance of raising awareness of diversity and culture.
