International Day of Sport for Development and Peace

Today, 6th April 2020 marks International Day of Sport for Development and Peace which will be celebrated around the globe.

In 2013, the UN General Assembly declared 6th April as the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace – a decision that represented a historic step in recognising the transformative power of sport and its great potential in advancing positive social change. The day is commemorated globally each year by International, Regional and National sport and development organisations to honour the role that sport plays in society.

#WhiteCard is a symbolic initiative designed to enable organisations and individuals to demonstrate their support for the day.

This year’s theme is “Behind each #WhiteCard there is a story”.

Peace and Sport invite you to rally around the symbol of a #WhiteCard as a sign of your commitment to peace efforts worldwide.

To take part in the 2020 campaign, simply snap yourself with a White Card, post the image on social media with the hashtag #WhiteCard.
