Netball is a sport that empowers women and girls the world over and today we mark one year to go until the netball world comes together to celebrate the sport’s most prestigious event – Netball World Cup 2019.
This will be the 15th staging of the event and the third time it will be hosted on English soil. The top sixteen teams from five regions will battle it out at the Liverpool Echo Arena from July 12-21 in front of thousands of spectators and millions of viewers around the world.
INF President, Hon Molly Rhone OJ, CD, who along with the INF Board was in Liverpool last week and met with the Local Organising Committee said:
“It was great to be in Liverpool to see how preparations are coming on for Netball World Cup 2019. There is no doubt that it will be a fantastic event, full of role models who will empower and inspire young women and girls all over the world.”
To mark the occasion, a media event took place today on the piazza of Liverpool’s ACC Arena featuring England’s Jade Clarke, who made history with her team by winning Gold at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, earlier this year.
Jade, who took part in a master class demonstration along with local school children, said:
“It’s a special time for the sport, especially here in England. All the teams will be coming for us at the World Cup, so bring it on.”
