International Events

When it comes to returning to international netball, INF understands that countries will emerge from lockdown at different times and lockdown rules may be reversed if infection rates increase. INF will work with its Members and Regions to ensure any international netball events adhere to government guidelines and ensure the safety and wellbeing of all those involved.

Netball World Youth Cup 2021

The Netball World Youth Cup is due to take place in June 2021 in Suva, Fiji.

World Rankings

The INF published the latest World Rankings at the end of 2019. Since then there has been one international tournament, the Vitality Nations Cup which took place in January at the start of the year. INF will publish a World Rankings update at the end of May/beginning of June to reflect this event.

INF will publish its annual update at the end of June 2020. The 8 match ranking threshold to retain a ranking will be reduced to 6 for this year’s annual update.

In addition, the INF Board is considering whether matches held as countries emerge at different times from lockdown should count towards World Rankings. The Board is consulting with Regions and Members on this matter.

Commonwealth Youth Games

On the 30th April 2020, the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) announced the CGF Executive Board has decided to explore rescheduling options for the 2021 Commonwealth Youth Games.

The seventh Commonwealth Youth Games were scheduled to take place ‪from 1-7 August 2021 after Trinidad and Tobago were awarded the competition by the CGF in June last year.

The impact of the pandemic on the global international sporting calendar means that the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics have now rescheduled to the summer of 2021 during the original dates of the Youth Games.

Following positive discussions, the CGF has agreed to consider the best alternative options and timeframes for staging the event in the future, potentially in 2023.

The INF is in close talks with the CGF regarding the rescheduling of the event and any information regarding this will be sent to INF Members and Regions.
