Netball World Youth Cup 2017 opens in Spectacular Style

His Excellency Lieuetenant-General Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama, President of Botswana, attended the spectacular opening ceremony of the Netball World Youth Cup 2019 at the University of Botswana.  He said:

“The 2017 Under 21 Netball World Youth Cup will serve as a springboard to propel the development of netball and sport in our country to another level.”

He further added:  “Creating high profile role models is critical for growth of the sport and empowerment of the young women in our countries.  It is my hope that the games will inspire current and future generations of sport persons who will represent our nations in future.”

INF President, the Hon Molly Rhone OJ, CD also spoke at the ceremony and said:

“The African region is a huge reservoir of sporting talent, and to hold our inaugural Netball World Youth Cup here, is a fitting platform to empower this talent and showcase our sport.”

She urged the players from the 20 teams to “play with passion and determination, and to be proud to represent your country, for which you are all ambassadors.”
