An Online Masterclass Equipping Healthcare Professionals to Support Females Participating in Contact Sports

An online masterclass, endorsed by World Netball, equipping healthcare professionals to support females participating in contact sports is set to begin on the 12th September 2023.

The course hosted by the University of Pretoria in South Africa is perfect for any professionals looking to enhance their knowledge and skills in understanding more of apparent physical, psychological, and societal influences that can impact a female athlete.

The online masterclass will be a series of six workshops taking place from the 12th September 2023 to the 20th February 2024.

Speaking on the importance of the course Prof. Christa Janse van Rensburg, Head of the Section Sports Medicine at the University of Pretoria and the Chair of the World Netball Medical Advisory Panel said: “Amid a transformative era for women and girls in sports, it is crucial to delve into the intricacies of their athletic experiences.

“Only six per cent of sports research focuses exclusively on female participants, leaving much to be discovered about how sport should be tailored to meet the specific needs of female athletes.”
