Up to 4000 additional tickets for Commonwealth Games Netball Finals to go up for grabs after move to SSE Hydro

Around 4000 new tickets for the Netball Finals at this summer’s Commonwealth Games will go on public sale from 11am tomorrow (Thursday, February 20).

Last month, Glasgow 2014 announced that the Finals of the Netball competition had been moved to the SSE Hydro, the city’s newest venue, doubling the number of spectators who will have the opportunity to see the world’s top Netball teams battle it out in the Bronze and Gold medal matches from 1000 on Sunday August 3. All other sessions in the competition will remain in the SECC Halls.

The new tickets for the Netball Finals – which take place on the closing day of the Games and will be amongst the last medals awarded at Glasgow 2014 – will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis from 11am tomorrow morning.

There are three price categories, all of which will be available for sale –

  • Price Category 1 – £50.00
  • Price Category 2 – £40.00
  • Price Category 3 – £30.00/£15.00 (concession)

A concession is classed as under 16 or over 60. All price categories are the same as those previously sold.

They can be purchased online via the Glasgow 2014 Ticketing website tickets.glasgow2014.com or the Ticket Hotline 0844 826 2014 (Option 1), open 24 hours a day. Calls cost 5p per minute from a BT landline. Other networks may vary.

It’s an opportunity not to be missed for netball and sports fans who still want to be part of the UK’s next big sporting event.

Opportunities also still remain in Badminton, Boxing, Lawn Bowls, Rugby Sevens, Squash, Weightlifting and Powerlifting while there is limited availability for both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

Spectators who have already been allocated tickets for the Finals will now have their seats assigned in the SSE Hydro.

The Glasgow 2014 ticketing programme has enjoyed unprecedented success since its launch in August 2013, ensuring 4500 Commonwealth athletes competing for Gold and glory in Glasgow will do so in packed stadia, and also confirming Glasgow 2014 as one of the most popular events in Scotland’s history.

David Grevemberg, Glasgow 2014 Chief Executive  said:

“The demand for tickets for Glasgow 2014 has been simply incredible, and we are delighted to be able to offer another chance to be part of making a great moment in sporting history to those who missed out on Netball Finals tickets earlier in the Ticketing Programme.

“The competition at this summer’s Games is considered the pinnacle of world Netball and one not to be missed.

“Hosting the Finals at the SSE Hydro not only promises to deliver a fantastic atmosphere for the world’s top Netball athletes to compete in , it also gives the netball community a further opportunity to secure tickets to witness live world-class sporting action.”
