All You Need to Know: FAST5 Netball World Series Christchurch 2022

The FAST5 Netball World Series (NWS) 2022 will run for the 5th – 6th October 2022 in Christchurch, New Zealand, with the hosts competing alongside Australia, England, Jamaica, South Africa and Uganda.

Whilst New Zealand, Australia and England will also compete in the men’s competition, for the first time in FAST5 NWS history.

The last FAST5 NWS, for women, took place in Melbourne, Australia 2018 with this year’s hosts, New Zealand, crowned champions. New Zealand will host the FAST5 NWS until 2024.

RULES

FAST5 is netball like you’ve never seen it before, with five players to a side, shorter quarters, power plays, and super shots – this is a game you don’t want to miss!

COMPETITION FORMAT

Women’s competition

All six teams will compete in a round-robin, consisting in 5 matches for each team.

During the round-robin / preliminary matches draws are permitted, teams will receive 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss or forfeit.

At the end of the round-robin teams shall be ranked 1 to 6 based on points, and where teams tie on points the result of the match between the two teams will be used to decide who is ranked higher.

However, if the two teams drew their match, or more than two teams have the same number of points at the end of the round-robin, goal average of the matches will be used to decide placings, and where goal average is identical goal difference will be used.

In the event of a further tie, the team scoring the most goals shall be declared the higher ranked team.

The teams will then proceed to classification matches as shown in the schedule.

Men’s competition  

All three teams shall compete in a round-robin consisting of 2 matches for each of them.

The top two ranked teams will proceed to a Grand Final play-off for 1st / 2nd, whilst the team that finished 3rd will play no further matches.
