World Netball launches its first official podcast called ‘Our Netball Family’

World Netball has today launched its first official podcast called ‘Our Netball Family’, with the trailer available to listen to now on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, and Podbean.

The podcast will be hosted by Sophie Reynolds, from the Digital Marketing team at the World Netball HQ, and in each episode, she will be speaking to members of the Netball Family, to find out more about the roles they play, on and off the court, in helping World Netball achieve its three core strategies: To Grow, To Play and To Inspire.

Ahead of an exciting two years for World Netball, with the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games starting this month and the Netball World Cup Cape Town 2023 just over a year away, the podcast plans to inspire the next generation of players, administrators, officials, coaches, fans and volunteers by bringing to life the different roles that those within our Netball Family play.

The podcasts will bring you right into the heart of what happens behind the scenes; we look to uncover new stories, bring you unique content and to share insights from the remarkable individuals who work and play in our sport.

The first guest will be World Netball president Liz Nicholl CBE, who will be speaking about her journey in netball, from the playing days with Wales Netball, to her role at World Netball, and everything in-between, as well as her future plans to grow the sport, and her advice to those who may wish to start a career in sport administration and governance.

Five more episodes will then be realised over the coming months, with exciting guests from across our five Regions.

Speaking on the announcement World Netball CEO Clare Briegal said: “A year ago we launched our strategic plan in which we made it our Mission to expand netball’s worldwide reach and impact, and this podcast is another example of how we are delivering our objective.

“There are so many unsung heroes who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make our game what it is, with fascinating untold stories and insights. From our officials to our coaches, health professionals, and administrators, the list is endless.

“The work they do often goes unnoticed, and we want to use this platform to tell their stories, and by doing this we look to grow the game by inspiring the next generation to get involved.”

Make sure you subscribe wherever you listen to your podcasts and turn on your notifications so that you don’t miss the first episode which will be launching later this month.
