International Player Watch – West Coast Fever Make History Winning The Suncorp Super Netball League Grand Final

West Coast Fever have made history winning the Suncorp Super Netball League for the first time in their history, after they beat Melbourne Vixens 70-59 in the Grand Final.

The 13,908 fans in attendance were treated to a fiery first quarter, with the players putting their bodies on the line for every interception.

Fever came out on top, leading 18-14 at the first break, and from there they did not let Vixens back into the game and instead extended their lead to six by half-time.

Two Fever players who made their mark in the second half were Jamaican Sunshine Girl Jhaniele Fowler and Australian Diamond Courtney Bruce, Fowler scored all 16 of her shots in the all-important third quarter, whilst Bruce dominated in defence, making sure Fever went into final quarter 10 goals up.

The fans did not think it was over though, as just the week before Vixens had come back from the same 10-goal deficit against Giants to win the Preliminary Final and book their place in this match, the Grand Final.

However, this time round that was just too much to ask for against a strong Fever side who extended their lead to 11 goals, winning the game 70-59 and claiming the title.

Congratulations to Fever on their victory!
