In an area more familiar with dog sled racing, netball is starting to be played in Alaska. Francisco Campbell introduced the sport whilst studying to be a physical education teacher, and has since fundraised to buy equipment, and went as far as finding a local welder to make netball posts.
This demonstrates one of the many projects that USANA, the official body for netball in the USA, is delivering in North America.
With the support of an International Netball Federation Net Effect grant, Netball Argentina have introduced the sport to Peru. An intense four days saw netball played at schools in the capital Lima, and included a visit to the Peruvian Olympic Committee.
The Kolofo’ou District in Tonga recently hosted a Come and Try Netball netball event, with 16 teams taking part. Come and Try events are planned for other parts of the country over the coming weeks.
